Eh. It’s a show car, the automotive version of a parade float. And the replicas were for marketing, so it’s fine.

That said, to buy it now and for that price, you’d have to have some overwhelming sense of nostalgia that blots out all other considerations. In 2019, it’s a bad call at any price.

I never really understood the appeal of pace car replicas, does anyone  really want to drive around every day in something that looks like that?

Or, maybe that’s not the point, seeing as how most of them do have very low mileage, but, then, why buy a non-exotic car if you’re not going to drive it? One of the major selling points of the Corvette has always been that you can use them as an everyday driver.

“Indy 500 Pace Car Editions” were (are?) a strange phenomena. Whichever manufacturer offered the most money to be the pace car at Indy would usually then release a limited run of cars in the Indy livery. Never really understood the appeal, but that Corvette isn’t even close to being the worst of them.

Speaking of Corvettes, there’s been a lot of Corvette pace car editions. Last year a collection of 16 of them went up on the Mecum auctions.
